What should I avoid while taking Mobic?

Do not use any other over-the-counter cold, allergy, or pain medication without first asking your doctor or pharmacist. Many medicines available over the counter contain medicines similar to Mobic (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, or naproxen). If you take certain products together you may accidentally take too much of this type of medication. Read the label of any other medicine you are using to see if it contains aspirin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, or naproxen. Do not drink alcohol while taking Mobic. Alcohol can increase the risk of stomach bleeding.

Mobic may not be right for you, if you:

• have had ulcers or stomach bleeding
• have had asthma, hives or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
• have severe kidney problems
• have severe liver problems
• are pregnant

Other side effects include:

stomach pain; constipation; diarrhea; gas; heartburn; nausea; vomiting; dizziness

What happens if I overdose?

Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, black or bloody stools, coughing up blood, fever, urinating less than usual or not at all, shallow breathing, fainting, seizure (convulsions), or coma.

Drug Interactions

Furosemide. Clinical studies, as well as post-marketing observations, have shown that NSAIDs can reduce the natriuretic effect of furosemide and thiazides in some patients. This response has been attributed to inhibition of renal prostaglandin synthesis. Studies with furosemide agents and meloxicam have not demonstrated a reduction in natriuretic effect. Furosemide single and multiple dose pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics are not affected by multiple doses of meloxicam. Nevertheless, during concomitant therapy with MOBIC tablets/oral suspension, patients should be observed closely for signs of renal failure, as well as to assure diuretic efficacy.

Dispense tablets in a tight container. Keep oral suspension container tightly closed-Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children.
